The "Red Heads" are learning!

I have found myself calling the two little mares "the red heads". The levels of improvement they have shown is once more astounding proof of a horse's ability and willingness to learn new things.
During the last couple weeks, we've had good weather which gave me more opportunity to work with 'the red heads'. They have made tremendous progress in lessons like learning to step toward the stall door when I ask, learning to move through the various gaits with consistency and control and even pick up their feet for trimming. They have learned to lead so well, that I can now lead them both to the arena for our sessions. They take turns standing tied at the fence and probably enjoy the quiet time. They are both saddling well and softening to the bridle, yielding forward, left, right and back. Yesterday they both got another turn in the wash stall where I cleaned their tails and gave them a clip around their faces. They now sport trimmed muzzles and stylish bridle paths!!
And...both Reba and Pumpkin have accepted me in the saddle! I've stayed there for only a couple steps at this point but they were successful rides! Another fun thing is that I was able to have Pumpkin lay down for me. She has also walked over a tarp and had it rub all her body.
Reba is now being offered for sale to the right home. She has shown tremendous courage with new obstacles like the bridge and going through a couple barrels set close together. I think she would make an outstanding ACTHA mount or gymkhanna competitor! You can visit her ad on Equine.com. http://www.equine.com/horses-for-sale/horse-ad-2056659.html She will of course be continueing her education even while she's for sale.
Pumpkin will stay with me a little longer before she's offered for sale. I have great dreams and hopes for her. She shows great athleticism and movement for performance!
The 'Red Heads' are doing so well! I enjoy working with them, watching their understanding and peace grow with each lesson.
